The Nigerian equities market rebounded on Thursday, ending its eleven-session losing streak, as buying interest in major Banking counters lifted the NGX All-Share Index (NGX-ASI) by 0.20% to close at 239,156.09 points. Market capitalisation increased by NGN305.56 billion to NGN154.44 trillion.

The Banking sector drove the market’s recovery, with the Banking Index advancing by 1.58%, supported by gains in tier-one banks, including ACCESSCORP (+4.36%), FIRSTHOLDCO (+4.65%), UBA (+3.74%), GTCO (+0.31%) and ZENITHBANK (+0.08%). However, market breadth remained weak at 0.49x, with 19 gainers against 39 losers. The up/down volume ratio stood at 1.03x, indicating only a marginal volume advantage for advancing stocks.
